Skyrocketing prices have led to demands for both imports from Russia and an abolition of the ETS system.
But that's not how it will be, Kristersson said.
"It was important not to tear up the rules of the game for all the companies that have now used European climate policy as a competitive advantage. That's extremely important for us," the Prime Minister said during a break at Thursday's EU summit in Brussels.
However, an already planned review of the ETS system will be carried out this summer.
In general, Kristersson notes that several of his colleagues are struggling with rising prices, not least for gas.
"Many countries are being hit hard by gas and are in a very bad situation," the Prime Minister said.
