Veteran Calle Halfvarsson, 36, wants to go to the Olympics. But in the Swedish Cup sprint he was eliminated in the quarterfinals. "Bad, of course. Bad feeling today. I felt tough," he said in Expressen's TV broadcast.

Yesterday, Calle Halfvarsson had his best race of the season when he came second in the mile race in the Swedish Cup.

Then the Olympic talk picked up again.

"If I'm in shape, I'll be at the Olympics, if I'm in good shape, I'll strengthen a Swedish relay team," he said at the time.

Expectations were therefore high for Saturday's sprint. But that didn't happen at all for Halfvarsson, who was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Bad, of course. Bad feeling today. Slow. I have nothing to say about the race.

I feel completely "off" here in the quarter-finals. It's boring.

The Olympic spot feels distant right now, Halfvarsson admits.

No, this wasn't good at all. I should have been in a final here.

Two places for the Olympics in Milan and Cortina are still available on the Swedish men's ski squad.

Edvin Anger, already qualified for the Olympics, showed great form and won easily.

In the women's final it was all about Jonna Sundling versus Linn Svahn. The two stars created a big gap to the rest of the field early on. In the sprint Sundling prevailed and took the victory, just ahead of Svahn.

Evelina Crüsell took third place.
