According to the store manager Maggie Rea, it was Nick Cave's publicist who contacted Oxfam's bookstore to ask if they wanted the donation. The books contain not only Cave's notes, but also his private flight tickets and postcards.
The donation has created great commotion and fans are traveling from all over the country to get their hands on Cave's favorite books. In addition, the store's turnover has tripled.
Among the titles that have already been sold were a book about the escape king Houdini and the Gothic 19th-century novel "The private memoirs and confessions of a justified sinner" by James Hogg.
The Australian artist Nick Cave lived a few years in the UK before moving to Los Angeles after his son Arthur's tragic death in 2015.
