Grundström arrived in Switzerland late Friday night, after Tre Kronor's opening loss to Canada, and will play against Denmark on Sunday.
This will be the 28-year-old's fourth World Cup; he won bronze two years ago in Prague.
He trained on a line with junior center Jack Berglund and veteran Jakob Silfverberg.
"It's a very young and exciting team, but there are also many experienced players, so we have a great mix," he says of Tre Kronor's World Cup team.
“High thoughts”
Jack Berglund signed a three-year contract with Philadelphia after the season in Färjestad ended, and he and Grundström met.
"I met him briefly in Philadelphia. He went over after the season, so I talked to him then. A great guy. They think highly of him in Philadelphia and he's a good player," says Grundström.
Turns down Björklöven
The hard-working and physical forward has an expiring contract with Philadelphia but hopes to extend his eight-year NHL career, despite parent club Björklöven moving up to the SHL.
"It's crazy that they went up, but hopefully I can stay in the NHL for a few more years," he says.
He had no qualms about playing in the World Cup despite his expiring contract.
"It was definitely something I thought about, but I've been to the World Championships twice before in the same situation. There are insurance policies that cover that," he says.
Philadelphia made it to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, where they faced Carolina.
"I guess not many people thought we'd make the playoffs, so we can be happy with the season," he says.
