The poisonous larvae of the oak processionary moth have spread terror in Denmark this summer, where the plague has now reached Copenhagen. But the spread is also described as severe in Germany.
To protect tourists in the popular Spreewald, waterways used for kayaking, among other things, have been cordoned off, reports the DPA news agency.
The venomous hairs of the “hellworm” detach easily and can be spread several kilometers by the wind. They can cause painful wounds that are difficult to heal.
