When Janogy scored the 1-1 goal in the 60th minute, she could sense her first title since moving to Italy a year ago. But the former Hammarby forward and Fiorentina were bitten again in another cup final against Roma.
Even in the Italian Cup last spring, Roma emerged victorious.
Back then, a penalty shootout was required to separate the teams. At Stadio Alberto Picco in La Spezia, the match-winning goal came shortly after Janogy's equalizer.
Norwegian Emilie Haavi made her way down the left flank and found Valentina Giacinti in the penalty area. The 31-year-old Italian national team forward, who celebrated her birthday last week, headed the ball decisively into the net to make it 2-1 in the 64th minute.
Tough for Madelen Janogy, who had just equalized, and tough also for Filippa Curmark, who had made her debut in the Fiorentina jersey just a few minutes earlier. The 29-year-old midfielder left Häcken for the Florence club a few days ago but barely had time to get warm before Giacinti scored with her head.
Fiorentina's third Swedish player, Karin Lundin, was not included in the match squad.
In the final minutes, Alice Corelli also scored to make it 3-1 for Roma.
The women's super cup final is played between the league and cup winners. Since Roma won both Serie A and the Italian Cup last year, the second place went to cup runner-up Fiorentina.
