"The difference with the TV series is that everything is bigger. We had more time, more money and, most importantly, we could work in a larger format. It was incredibly exciting to see what we could do in IMAX," Favreau said at a digital press conference.
The role of The Mandalorian is once again played by Pedro Pascal, who emphasizes that he grew up with the “Star Wars” films. He has now played the role for seven years - he has never held the same role for that long before.
My first cinematic memories are “Star Wars.” It’s incredibly flattering to be associated with something as special as this and to share it with so many people who enjoy it.
Grogu, a true partner
In the new film, The Mandalorian and Grogu travel to a planet where they encounter relatives of Jabba the Hutt, who appeared in the first “Star Wars” films, and are tasked with searching for and rescuing Jabba’s captive son. But this son turns out to be something completely different from his cruel and calculating father.
Grogu takes a larger part in the plot and uses the Force on a couple of occasions.
"Grogu is a true partner, and I think he has been from the very beginning. He awakened my character's parental instincts, but it's also the case that my character realizes that this creature has powers that you can't even understand," says Pedro Pascal.
According to Pascal, it is a power to be used for good - and therefore must be protected and managed.
Therefore, the Mandalorian and Grogu are now partners who embark on new adventures together.
“Exciting and dangerous adventure”
Pascal says his character is always prepared to defend himself to survive. He is often on a mission that turns into an “incredibly exciting and often deadly adventure.”
In this film, he really finds himself in deep water when he is confronted with some of the more iconic “Star Wars” villains, says Pascal.
