After a number of accidents at Swedish amusement parks, the government appointed an inquiry in August last year.
"The accidents at Swedish amusement parks in recent years are a tragedy. It is urgent to strengthen the supervision of amusement parks", said Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer then.
The inquiry has now submitted a partial report to Strömmer.
In addition to the Consumer Agency being responsible for supervision, a new law for inspection and supervision of amusement parks is also proposed. All safety requirements and regulations on supervision will be gathered in the law. It is intended to simplify the rules for both authorities and companies operating amusement parks, according to a press release from the Ministry of Justice.
The changes are proposed to come into force on January 1, 2027.
The entire inquiry is to be finalized no later than October 7, 2025.
