”I will continue my interview with her tomorrow. The Ministry of Justice will provide further information on what we have found out at an appropriate time”, writes Deputy Minister of Justice Todd Blanche on X on Thursday.
The hearings can be seen as a way for the Ministry of Justice to show transparency after the widespread criticism of how President Donald Trump's government handled the so-called Epstein documents.
According to Maxwell's lawyer David Markus, she was cooperative on Thursday.
She answered all questions truthfully, honestly and to the best of her ability, said Markus to reporters afterwards without wanting to comment on the content of the interrogation.
Todd Blanche said in social media earlier in the week that Trump emphasized that if Maxwell has information about people who have committed crimes against Epstein's victims, then the FBI and the Ministry of Justice should ”hear what she has to say”.
The interrogations take place in Tallahassee, Florida, where Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
