"Improving travel times between capitals across Europe is a clear and pragmatic result of our desire to make Europe more united and more efficient," says EU Regional Commissioner Raffaele Fitto in a press release about the new train schedule that is now being presented.
However, it is not particularly rich in content. In addition to thoughts about how much shorter the journeys could be, the plan mainly consists of promises to work to remove the bottlenecks that exist when it comes to cross-border train traffic.
For example, a formal proposal is promised by the beginning of 2026 to make it easier for travelers to buy and combine tickets from different companies.
