The opposition in South Korea is trying to bring the acting President Han Duck-Soo to trial. The reason is that he has refused to appoint judges to the Constitutional Court, which is to try the case concerning his predecessor, Yoon Suk-Yeol.
We will let it (the motion) go to a vote tomorrow (Friday), says Park Sung-Joon, a member of the opposition, to reporters outside the country's national assembly on Boxing Day.
Han Duck-Soo was Prime Minister until he took over the presidency after Yoon, who was suspended in connection with the parliament recently voting to initiate an impeachment process against him. This was due to his heavily criticized decision to declare a state of emergency. In addition to this process, two criminal investigations are also underway against Yoon.
