A total of 24,078 new passenger cars were registered in October, which is 4 percent fewer than in the same month a year ago. For the period January to October, sales are up 4.4 percent compared to last year.
"How quickly the recovery will proceed now partly depends on geopolitics, where shortages of semiconductors and rare earth metals can disrupt supply chains and threaten production," says Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden, in a press release.
Among the most popular car models were the Volvo XC60, which accounted for 8.4 percent of new car registrations, and the Volvo Ex/xc40, which accounted for 6 percent. Tesla's Model Y fell to 0.5 percent of new car registrations from 4.1 percent during the same period last year.
