The Palestinians should not get their own state. This is the message from Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a speech to settlers on the occupied West Bank.

We will fulfill our promise that there will be no Palestinian state, this place belongs to us, said Netanyahu on site at the settlement Maale Adumim, located just east of Jerusalem.

The speech was held in connection with Netanyahu signing documents related to the heavily criticized plan to expand settlements that, if realized, will mean that the West Bank is split and the Palestinian area is divided into two.

When Israel gave a final go-ahead for the project on August 20, the country's far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich cheered.

The Palestinian state is being eradicated – not with slogans, but with actions, said Smotrich.

The next day, the so-called E1 plan was condemned by foreign ministers from 21 countries, including Sweden.

"We condemn this decision and strongly urge its immediate revocation", the ministers wrote in a joint statement.
