The trend is the same throughout the country, although it varies slightly by region.
The statistics, which apply to sales between February 1 last year and January 31 this year, show that 51 percent of holiday homes sold below the starting price in Stockholm and Västerbotten, for example, while in Östergötland the figure is 37 percent.
"At the same time, you should keep in mind that starting prices today are often set at relatively high levels, so you should not assume that it is a bargain just because the final price ends up below the starting price," says Erik Holmberg, market analyst at Hemnet, in a press release.
The price of a holiday home also varies greatly depending on where in the country you are. In Norrbotten and Örebro counties, a holiday home costs an average of just over 1 million, while in Stockholm it is 3.1 million.
