The cameraman is the fifth Al Jazeera journalist to be killed in Gaza since the war broke out over 14 months ago. The Qatar-based news channel condemns the attack, which took place in Nuseirat in central Gaza.
Israel states in a statement that the cameraman was a member of the terrorist-stamped Islamic Jihad. Israel has on several occasions accused the TV network's journalists of being linked to terrorism.
The news agency Wafa, which is subordinate to the Palestinian Authority on the Israeli-occupied West Bank, reports on Sunday evening that at least 20 people were killed in an attack on a school building west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
Displaced Palestinians are said to have been in the building, but Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of using school premises.
Earlier in the day, an Israeli drone is also said to have hit a tent that housed several people who were forced to flee in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
Israel also confirmed on Sunday that attacks had been carried out in Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, without specifying when these operations took place.
Separately, the military reported that it had attacked a clinic in northern Gaza and claimed that terrorist-stamped Hamas used it as a "command and control center" and weapons storage facility.
The war between Israel and Hamas broke out with Hamas' large-scale attack on Israel on October 7 last year. Around 45,000 people have been killed in Gaza since then.
