According to a press release from the Danish court, the 86-year-old queen was admitted on Sunday "after feeling unwell."

At the hospital, a blood clot in the hip region and mild dehydration have been diagnosed, both of which are now being treated.

"Queen Margrethe is in good spirits and, given the circumstances, is doing well," the court writes.

However, she is expected to remain in hospital next week for observation and treatment, which means she will not be able to attend King Harald's funeral in Oslo on Wednesday.

The queen was also treated in hospital in May for a major hemorrhage in the hip area.
