The pike risked freezing into the ice but were rescued by a group of Tyresö residents who, using nets, buckets and just their hands, helped carry them to open water, writes Mitti.
"We didn't understand at the time how big this was. Not until we were done and had made an estimate of how many fish we had saved - it was about 300," Rolf Stohr, chairman of the Tyresö Fish Conservation Association, told the newspaper.
The pike were stuck in Lake Dyviksmaren and could not get out to Ällmorafjärden because the channel had frozen over. The rescue operation lasted three days, from February 7 to 9.
Things were worse earlier this week for hundreds of pike on Lidingö who could not be rescued and froze to death in the ice.
