It was in Val Thorens that she injured herself last year. Now Sandra Näslund was back – and dominated in the ski cross World Cup premiere. I have been so nervous, says the 29-year-old after the victory.

Superior in the qualifiers and easily advanced through the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the final, Sandra Näslund continued to dominate.

The Swede was superior and won ahead of Courtney Hoffos, Canada, and Mylene Ballet Baz from France.

Immediately after finishing, Näslund shouted his joy.

A roar that also contained a large portion of relief.

It's been a tough road back. There have been so many important people by my side... It just feels amazing, she says in Viaplay's broadcast.

I've been so nervous since we got here. I told myself to just have fun and enjoy myself but it's been so nerve-wracking. But now it feels good.

It was in Val Thorens, France, that Sandra Näslund made a comeback last year after her knee injury in 2023-2024. After a crash in the qualifiers, she suffered a new injury, a fracture in her tibia. For a year, the star has been struggling with rehabilitation to get back to competitions and to have the chance to defend her Olympic gold medal from Beijing 2022 at the Italian Olympics.

The Olympics will be decided in February.

The next World Cup competition will be held on Friday, also in Val Thorens.
