Hammarby Ends Losing Streak with 1-0 Victory Over Degerfors

Hammarby's negative result streak in the football top league seemed to continue – until captain Nahir Besara took matters into his own hands. The 34-year-old goal scorer scored the match's only goal in the 1-0 win against Degerfors in Stockholm.

Draw in the derby against AIK followed by a loss against the league leaders Mjällby. The last two rounds have not gone "Bajen's" way in the top league.

In the hunt for a trend-breach, at home against Degerfors, they drove the game in the entire first half against a low-standing red-clad team. But they did so without creating any hot opportunities.

Frustrated

Instead, it was the guests from Värmland who in the 24th minute were closest through talent Elias Pihlström's wrist shot – which narrowly passed Hammarby goalkeeper Warner Hahn's right post.

0–0 at halftime and frustrated among "Bajen".

We need to get to the finish, and stop being so sloppy, said Abdelrahman Boudah to Max.

At halftime, they brought in benched star Sebastian Tounekti to get new offensive injection into the attack play, but in the end, it was the team's big star Nahir Besara who would be decisive to Hammarby's advantage.

With just over an hour played, "Bajen" captain got the ball outside the penalty area and sent in a distinct finish from distance.

1–0 to Hammarby, who are now in fourth place, three points behind league-leading Mjällby. Degerfors, on the other hand, has now two losses in a row and lies tenth, four points above the relegation place.

Draw for Mjällby

Away against IFK Norrköping, the surprise team Mjällby was on its way to extend their league lead after Ludwig Malachowski Thorell had screwed in 1–0 shortly before the break.

A lead that stood until the 85th minute – when Arnór Traustasson set 1–1 on a free kick and Mjällby had to settle for a point.

The Blekinge team still tops the top league and are one point ahead of second-placed AIK. Third-placed Elfsborg has 25 points, but has one game less played.
