Stina Nilsson won the Ski Classics - after drama and confusion in Engadin. The 47-kilometer race in the cross-country skiing cup was decided by a photo finish, with margins down to the millimeter.

Nilsson and Norwegian Anniken Gjerde Alnæs crossed the finish line side by side, seemingly at the same time.

In the initial photo finish graphic, Gjerde Alnæs was declared the winner. But after a few nervous minutes, the announcement was changed - and the victory went to Stina Nilsson instead.

“Bull skulls”

Nilsson said on SVT's broadcast: "There was a lot of will in that sprint, I can say," and continued:

"Both Anniken and I are two little bullheads who are happy to challenge each other to a fight. It was make or break and today it paid off well."

The tension was there long before the sprint.

With only one kilometer left in the race, six skiers were fighting for victory.

In the end, another Swede managed to take a place on the podium. Hanna Lodin took third place, just ahead of Hedda Bångman.

No podium for Myhlback

On the men's side, Olympic qualifier Alvar Myhlback couldn't quite make it to the top.

The 19-year-old Swede stayed with the lead pack for a long time and made it all the way up in the close battle.

With just over a kilometer to go, Myhlback was challenging for the podium places - having picked up place after place during the final stages of the race.

However, he did not have enough strength to hold on. In the last kilometer, Myhlback lost positions and crossed the finish line in ninth place, just behind the winner, Norway's Amund Riege. For Myhlback, it was his first Ski Classics race of the season. He missed the season opener in Bad Gastein in December due to illness.

Jutterström impresses

Frenchman Jeremy Royer came in second, while another Norwegian, Magnus Vesterheim, secured third place.

The best Swede in the race was Axel Jutterström, who impressed with a fifth place.

Alfred Buskqvist ensured three Swedes were in the top ten with his tenth place.
