The woman who murdered her in-laws and another relative with the help of a poisonous mushroom in Australia is sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in the country.

The judge meant that the 50-year-old had not shown any remorse.

Your lack of remorsefulness sprinkles salt in the victims' wounds, he says according to ABC.

The sentence for the murders was life imprisonment, the woman can apply for conditional release for the first time in 33 years.

The woman invited the former in-laws, the mother-in-law's sister and her husband to lunch in July 2023. The woman's former husband was also invited to lunch, but decided shortly before not to come because he felt "uncomfortable" considering the tension between him and the woman. The couple was at the time still married, but on their way to separating.

The menu featured beef Wellington – baked beef fillet with mushroom filling. But instead of champignons, the filling consisted of sneaky death cap, one of the world's most poisonous mushrooms.

Three of the lunch guests became ill and died within a week and the fourth, the mother-in-law's sister's husband, became severely ill but survived the poisoning thanks to a liver transplant. The woman is convicted of attempted murder in that case.

The 50-year-old has in court denied the crime and claimed that it was an accident.
