Authorities suspect the property in northern Stockholm was financed with funds derived from criminal activity.
"It is the highest-value property to date that has been seized as part of an independent confiscation investigation," says Karin Jensen, an expert in criminal economics at the National Operations Department, in a press release.
The law came into force in November 2024 and makes it possible to confiscate assets when it is likely that they originate from criminal activity. Previously, properties in Eskilstuna and Helsingborg have been seized.
