The party wants to replace today's Creative School with a state cultural guarantee to give all children in elementary school and high school at least one state-funded cultural experience per year. Creative School does not reach everyone, according to MP's spokesperson Daniel Helldén.
We know that it varies greatly in the country, especially in areas where things are not as good, it is rare that people take advantage of this, says Helldén.
In today's situation, it relies on enthusiasts in the school. We want a guarantee.
Daniel Helldén presented the proposals in his speech during the ongoing Järvaveckan. According to a new report from Järvaveckan research, eight out of ten people with foreign background would devote more time to cultural activities – but there are many obstacles. Even young people in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas want to spend more time on culture, according to the report.
MP wants to allocate state funds to a state cultural guarantee, but also reintroduce the aesthetic subjects at high school and enact a new law that will guarantee cultural school throughout the country.
In today's situation, it is so unevenly distributed, says Daniel Helldén.
What would this cost?
We want to conduct a survey to see how much is needed. Today, around 230 million kronor is spent on Creative School, but this requires more.
