The police investigation into the 20-year-old has not found any links to crime. However, shootings occurring outdoors without a gang context are unusual, which is why they are investigating whether the perpetrator or perpetrators were actually after someone else.
At the same time, other possible motives are being investigated, Lundh says.
We still don't rule out the possibility that it might have been the wrong target. That is also something that needs to be investigated.
He declined to comment on whether the 20-year-old was in the company of other people when the shooting occurred.
"It has to do with the fact that we are still hoping for more observations. We don't want to color the picture," he says.
Parking lot
The shooting occurred late Saturday night in a residential area in Väster, Örebro. The 20-year-old was found injured in a parking lot and taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The police have not identified any suspects and are interested in observations from the public both before and after the incident. It could be that the shooters were reacting to people who were acting strangely at a location before the shots were fired, Jonas Lundh says.
Is it your assessment that the perpetrator was standing and waiting?
Yes, but the assessment is that there could have been observations before the shots, he says.
The police have secured evidence at the crime scene. They have also searched with dogs, knocked on doors, reviewed footage from surveillance cameras and brought people in for questioning.
The investigation is in an intensive phase and there is a wide range of information that we need to follow up. Some leads are more likely and more interesting than others, but all of them need to be followed up and we need to do it quickly. So it is resource-intensive right now, Jonas Lundh says.
Active in football club
The 20-year-old played for a local football club and several people gathered for a memorial service on Sunday. A teammate tells Nerikes Allehanda:
It came as a shock. I can't believe I won't get to see him again.
On Monday morning, the club released a statement on social media, writing, among other things:
"There is great despair over the senseless violence behind it. What has happened touches us all deeply."
