According to Usjakov, who came with the message on Russian state television on Tuesday, the meeting will take place at the level of foreign ministers.
The adviser mentions no date, but emphasizes that "many issues still need to be resolved".
The latest high-level meeting between Russia and the USA was held in Alaska in August, between President Putin and the USA's President Donald Trump. The meeting ended without any agreements on Ukraine.
Trump claimed, however, that Putin had agreed to a meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj, which later proved to be unfounded.
