The World Championship in Doha, Qatar, starts on Saturday and it is now clear that Jerringpris winner Truls Möregårdh will have his brother as a private coach during the championship.
It's a long-term solution. That's what we wanted, we didn't want anything temporary. We have agreed on the future when it comes to coaching for Truls, says the association's sports manager Daniel Ellermann to TT.
Private coach
It feels great that we can continue working in this way.
The conflict became known at the end of February. The main issue has been – according to the association – that the double Olympic silver medalist wants a different solution on the coaching side also at tournaments designated as national team competitions.
Last week, Truls Möregårdh himself said that the coaching solution was clear, but that was denied by the association. Then there were still details left to resolve, but now everything is clear.
Malte will be Truls' private coach. He will coach him and take care of his preparations, says Daniel Ellermann.
Ellermann himself has not been part of the working group that has held discussions with the Möregårdh family.
The economy, the key issue
The economy has been the key issue earlier. Now we have found a solution to the whole thing, so to speak. All parties are satisfied with the solution. It's only positive from our and their side, says the sports manager.
Truls Möregårdh enters the singles tournament on Sunday against Andreas Levenko, Austria. On Saturday, he plays in the first round of the doubles with Anton Källberg and there the Mexican pair Marcos Madrid/Rogelio Castro awaits.
national team leaders present during the championship are acting national team captain Peter Blomqvist and Marcus Sjöberg.
