With the "Economic Basic" ticket type, passengers will only be allowed to bring one small bag on board, a cost model that many low-cost airlines already use.

According to the airline, the ticket will be introduced shortly. A Lufthansa spokesperson told Bloomberg that it sees a need for additional ticket types.

The airline is currently facing several challenges. Recently, Lufthansa announced that it is canceling 20,000 flights through October to save fuel. In addition, hundreds of flights were canceled in April due to strikes.
