We have not settled on exactly what they should look like, but for us it is important that the tax does not become a brake on young people who want a house because older people do not move due to high relocation taxes, says Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson at a press conference.

She and the finance mayoral candidate in Stockholm, Christofer Fjellner (M), stress that the thresholds for single-family home ownership must be lowered.

The goal is that two ordinary salaries should be enough to buy a house. According to the Moderates, the way to get there is through lower taxes and a firm no to the Social Democrats' proposal for a bank tax.

M also wants more single-family homes to be exempt from building permits and waiting times for simpler permit matters reduced.
