The Moderates call their election promise a Security-Creating Area Ban, which would give police greater powers to intervene against people who behave threateningly on streets and squares.
The proposal can be seen as an extension of the residence ban and the Public Order Act, according to Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer.
The police should be able to issue an area ban for a proposed period of 30 days.
How it will work in detail must be investigated, according to Strömmer, but it is about addressing "antisocial behavior."
The Public Order Act already exists, under which police can send away people who are disturbing the peace. But it is not enough.
It will only be a temporary solution, Strömmer tells TT.
