Tamsons has had a strong profile on traffic issues and, among other things, has proposed that pedestrians should be sentenced to prison.
"After more than three decades in politics, I have made one of the most difficult - but also most thoughtful - decisions of my life," Tamsons writes on Facebook.
"It has been an honor to represent Swedish democracy as an elected official for over three decades - locally, regionally and nationally."
He will be the new CEO of the Swedish Construction Companies' Federation. In a press release, the chairman of the Swedish Construction Companies' Federation, Carin Stoeckmann, says they are very pleased to welcome Tamsons and his broad experience.
