Success team Mjällby's Axel Norén is called up to the A-national team, announces the Swedish Football Association. The 26-year-old defender joined the Swedish World Championship qualification team on Thursday morning.

Norén trained with the national team on Bosön outside Stockholm on Thursday morning, before he and the rest of the squad fly down to Ljubljana. There, Sweden's football men begin the World Championship qualification away against Slovenia on Friday evening. On Monday, the qualification continues with a match against Kosovo in Pristina.

Norén replaces injured Gustaf Lagerbielke.

Gustaf Lagerbielke will leave the World Championship qualification squad due to an injury that makes him unavailable for the next two matches, says press chief Petra Thorén.

26-year-old Axel Norén, a key player in the Allsvenskan series leader Mjällby's successful team, was also in the national team squad in June but has not yet played any national team match.
