Storm Amy has been in focus ahead of the match between gold-hunting home team Mjällby and visiting Elfsborg. When TT arrived at Strandvallen, located by the sea in western Blekinge, a few hours before kickoff, it was blowing hard and raining intensively.
There have been speculations about whether the match could be played as planned, but at Mjällby, despite the external conditions, there were no doubts about this.
"It is expected to be harsh weather conditions, but we see all possibilities to carry out the match as planned. We have also taken measures at the arena to create a safe and secure experience for everyone”, Mjällby wrote on their social media a few hours before kickoff.
Elfsborg's player bus rolled in on the Blekinge countryside and a moment later came the definitive message – despite Amy's rampage, football will be played at Strandvallen.
The tickets are sold out and among several spectators in rain gear and with rubber boots, TT met Mjällby supporters Anna and Herman Borg, who did not hesitate for a second about being on site.
No, say both in unison.
The Borgs expect, however, that the beautiful game will shine with its absence.
The ball will fly back and forth, but Mjällby is probably better than Elfsborg at that game, says Herman Borg.
Anna Borg feels sure that Mjällby will win the Swedish Championship gold, but not as sure about when it will be clear.
It does not matter, she says at the same time as the match's players start warming up in the heavy rain.
If Mjällby wins against Elfsborg at the same time as Hammarby loses points in Sunday's away match against IFK Göteborg, the matter is settled – then Mjällby can end the weekend by celebrating the club's historic first Swedish Championship gold.
