After just over a week of gold celebrations, Allsvenskan football was back on Mjällby's program.
We had a few days where we had some fun together, but then Hasse (Larsson, sports manager) said stop and then we had to start training.
A number of tractors decorated with Mjällby flags were set up along the road to the arena.
I drove a different way, but got a picture sent by a friend. It was mighty, says the team captain who has been with Mjällby throughout their journey from the bottom of division 1 to the SM gold.
”Goosebumps”
A large majority of the 5,629 spectators on site had come to pay tribute to the SM winner. Already when the championship team made their entrance to the warm-up, the standing grandstand on the opposite long side was well-filled. The song "We are the champions" was played over the loudspeakers and the players were applauded in time and responded by applauding back.
It's goosebumps when you run out, says Jesper Gustavsson.
We will probably not experience that again in our lives. The music is usually really bad at Strandvallen, today it was good music, says striker Jacob Bergström.
”Hard to grasp”
The Blekinge team now has 69 points and also has two matches (Värnamo away and Häcken at home) to pass the dream limit of 70 points. AIK and Malmö FF shared the previous record of 67 points.
It's incredibly hard to grasp. You live in some kind of dream that feels unreal, says gold coach Anders Torstensson.
Jacob Bergström has become known for talking about the goal of 34 points to secure the contract.
TT: How many points will you gather?
I'm pretty pleased if I'm going to be honest, but Tom Pettersson (central defender in Mjällby) wants 75 points so we have to follow, says Bergström.
Next, another day of fun awaits.
Then we have to start training again and go, you have to show respect for the rest of the series as well. We will try to get over 70 anyway, preferably 75 too, says Jesper Gustavsson.
