The leading indexes on the New York Stock Exchange went in different directions on Tuesday.
Semiconductor giant Nvidia bounced back after Monday's fall when the share price dropped 6.7 per cent. On Tuesday, the price rose 6.8 per cent.
The broad S&P 500 index rose 0.4 per cent, the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index went up 1.3 per cent, while the Dow Jones industrial index fell 0.8 per cent.
There appears to be a strong demand for cruises in the USA. Cruise giant Carnival says that the booking situation for the rest of the year is the best recorded in terms of both prices and occupancy. And it could get even better next year. Carnival closed 8.7 per cent up.
Even competitors Royal Caribbean Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line performed strongly. They increased 4 and 5.1 per cent, respectively.
