A major fraud investigation into child care in the state is underway. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has suspended federal payments for child care in Minnesota.
Tim Walz says he can't give his all in a political campaign after an "incredibly difficult year for our state."
"Donald Trump and his allies - in Washington, Saint Paul and online - want to make our state a colder and meaner place," he said in a statement.
Walz, who was the Democratic vice presidential candidate in the 2024 election, announced four months ago that he was seeking a third term.
