The County Administrative Board of Blekinge receives a total of 1.6 million kronor in compensation from TT-Line following the oil spill from the ferry Marco Polo.

The authority writes in a press release.

"We perceive it as the shipping company wanting to do the right thing and pay the costs that the oil spill caused in a sensitive environment with high natural values", says Margaretha Lewenhagen, chief lawyer at the County Administrative Board of Blekinge according to the press release.

The County Administrative Board has previously received 450,000 kronor in compensation from the shipping company.

In the autumn of 2023, TT-Lines' ferry Marco Polo ran aground off the coast of Blekinge. Thousands of liters of oil leaked into the sea. The cleanup work is still ongoing.
