Mike Johnson Warns Live-Streaming Nidal Hasan’s Execution Could Aid Terrorist Recruitment

US House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, is joining those skeptical of live-streaming the execution of convicted murderer Nidal Hasan. He told CBS that the risk is creating a video that could serve as a recruiting tool for future terrorists.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth opened the execution to the public last week, and sources told several media outlets that it would be broadcast live.

However, several Republican leaders do not seem quite as enthusiastic about the idea. President Donald Trump has said that nothing has been decided, Vice President JD Vance says he does not think a broadcast will happen, and now House Speaker Mike Johnson is raising objections.

We must carefully consider the political consequences of all this, he says.

Nidal Hasan is scheduled to be executed by firing squad.
