The midwife was suspended last fall after she attended a home birth of twins - something that is considered a high-risk birth. Ivo said the midwife's actions posed a danger to the patient's life, health or personal safety, according to the decision. This was reported by DN. Deficiencies in record keeping and medication administration were also found.
According to the midwife, everything went well during the twin birth, but doctors at the maternity hospital reported it to the regulatory authority. She has opposed the decision and told DN that she continues to attend home births.
Ivo has filed charges against her, and she is suspected of violating the Patient Safety Act. She has reportedly been questioned by police.
