The woman underwent an operation in 2002. When she, 20 years later, sought care for abdominal pain over a few years, a colon X-ray was performed – and a 15-centimeter long forgotten metal object was discovered in the lower part of the abdomen, writes Barometern.
The object was surgically removed and turned out to be an instrument used to remove ovaries.
The Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Ivo) has reviewed the care the woman received during the four years prior to the colon X-ray, but has not found any deficiencies.
The operation in 2002 has not been examined more closely by Ivo, since events that occurred so far back are not investigated by the authority.
