The two men who were arrested outside the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant and initially suspected of espionage have now been convicted of unlawfully photographing protected objects, P4 Kalmar reports.

The sentence is 40 daily fines for each of the two men, who are father and son and Polish citizens. Since the men confessed, no hearing was held in the district court.

When they were arrested in March last year, the men had a map of the nuclear power plant in their car, as well as binoculars and a Geiger counter. On the father's mobile phone, police found, among other things, photos of his son posing at the nuclear power plant wearing a cap with a Soviet emblem.

The men themselves have stated that they are very interested in nuclear power plants and that they traveled to Sweden to visit OKG, Barometern has previously reported.
