It had been reported that four-time world champion Verstappen was on his way out of Red Bull. But that is not the case. Instead, it is now clear that the Dutchman will remain with the team for at least another four years.
"I am happy about the contract extension. We have a good team and I am excited to continue working together and to be at the top again," says Max Verstappen in a statement.
The 28-year-old and Red Bull have had a difficult season and are in sixth place in the world championship standings.
The F1 season continues in the Netherlands this weekend.
