Kenneth Iwamasa worked as Matthew Perry's personal assistant for several years. He helped inject ketamine into Perry on an almost daily basis. Iwamasa says he "couldn't say no" when his boss asked him to perform those actions.
According to Perry's family, he had been hired in the belief that Iwamasa would help keep the actor sober and drug-free.
Matthew Perry was prescribed ketamine for depression, but wanted more than the doctor could prescribe. Kenneth Iwamasa then helped buy ketamine on the black market from another doctor.
According to what emerged at the trial in Los Angeles, Kenneth Iwamasa provided his boss with ketamine six to eight times a day during the final period.
Perry was found dead in his pool in Los Angeles in October 2023. The autopsy found traces of ketamine in his blood, but Iwamasa initially tried to hide from police that the star had taken drugs.
A total of five people have pleaded guilty to involvement in Perry's death. In addition to Kenneth Iwamasa, middleman Erik Fleming and "ketamine queen" Jasveen Sangha, two doctors have also been sentenced.
