The price of oil has once again fallen below $100 a barrel, while one dollar now costs 9.18 kronor.
The rise on the Stockholm Stock Exchange was broad-based, with engineering company Atlas Copco topping the OMXS30 list, up 2.3 percent. This was followed by Nordea and ball-bearing manufacturer SKF, both up 2.2 percent.
In the opposite direction were the telecommunications company Telia, down 0.8 percent, and Saab, which fell 0.7 percent.
The rise follows Monday's 1 percent gain in the S&P 500 index, which also pointed to an upward move on Wall Street in early trading on Tuesday.
The leading European stock exchanges also closed in the green on Tuesday.
