The new government will hold for two terms

Jessica Rosencrantz and Benjamin Dousa take their places in Ulf Kristersson's government – and several existing ministers get new roles. As team leader, I want to build a team that can help lead the country at least until 2030, says Ulf Kristersson.

Jessica Rosencrantz (The Moderate Party) gets the post as EU Minister after Jessika Roswall, who has been nominated to become an EU Commissioner. Rosencrantz has been a member of parliament since 2010. She became chair of the EU Committee as recently as May this year, in connection with The Moderate Party's Hans Wallmark leaving parliament.

Rosencrantz says that she will continue to prioritize the so-called four K's in her role as EU Minister: war, climate, competitiveness, and crime.

She specifically mentions support to Ukraine.

It will be a continued strong priority for my work going forward.

Long-term plan

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson says that the new government has been elected based on a long-term plan that will hold even after the next election.

It has been a given for me not to just think about the rest of the term. I have thought at least one term ahead.

Johan Forssell (The Moderate Party) becomes the new Migration Minister after Maria Malmer Stenergard (The Moderate Party), who succeeds Tobias Billström on the post of Foreign Minister after his sudden resignation.

After a well-executed stint at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, I want to bring Johan back to the center of Swedish domestic politics to complete one of the major course corrections, says Ulf Kristersson.

Forssell says that he is proud of the changes he made in his old job as Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, but that it now feels very good to move to domestic politics. He will continue the government's line on migration policy and advocate for a strict asylum policy, he says.

We got a very clear mandate from the Swedish people to implement changes, says Forssell.

Liberals switch places

Benjamin Dousa (The Moderate Party), CEO of Företagarna, previously CEO of the think tank Timbro and chair of The Moderate Party's Youth League (Muf) 2016-2020, replaces Forssell.

Every day, I will safeguard taxpayers' money. Not a single tax krona should go to the wrong hands; it should help people in need. Transparency also needs to increase, says Dousa about his new role as Minister for Development Cooperation.

Johan Pehrson (The Liberals) becomes the new Education Minister and switches places directly with party colleague Mats Persson (The Liberals), who takes over his portfolio as the new Minister for Labour Market and Integration.
