Margaux Flavet wins "Idol"

It was the favorite-tipped "queen" Margaux Flavet who took home the "Idol" anniversary season 2024. Her Etta James number knocked out the jury, who called it "supernaturally good".

Even her rendition of Håkan Hellström's "It will never be over for me" went down well with both the jury and the viewers. The 16-year-old from Stockholm is the youngest "Idol" winner ever.

Surround yourself with good people, because this is going to take off, said Ash Pournouri.

After the first part of the final was over, where the idols performed their own song choice and a previous favorite song, Minou Nilsson was voted out and had to settle for third place in this year's "Idol".

Thus, it was the two remaining finalists Margaux Flavet and Joel Nordenberg who got to perform the winning song "I’ll write your name across the sky".

Grateful for support

When the votes were counted for the last time, it was clear that Margaux would become the 20th "Idol" winner.

Now it's starting to sink in what's happening. This feels completely incredible, I'm so happy and grateful for all the support I've received. I've won for everyone who has believed in me, she says afterwards.

The jury has been pouring praise over runner-up Joel Nordenberg throughout the season, both for his vocal resources and charisma – and the final was no exception. His reprisal of Jireel's "Amen" got the jury on their feet.

I love your self-confidence, you know who you are as an artist, said Peg Parnevik.

Praises "little sister"

Afterwards, it's a satisfied runner-up who praises the winner and "little sister" Margaux.

I'm so happy, this is an honor. Maggie was incredible and I understand that she won the viewers' votes – completely right, she's a fantastic singer, he says.

Besides excitement, the "Idol" final also offered a healthy dose of nostalgia when both previous winners and hosts visited the 20-year-old entertainment program.

David Hellenius, who hosted the premiere season in 2004, was back and acted as sidekick to Pär Lernström, and even Peter Jihde, Gina Dirawi, Sanna Bråding, and Anis don Demina were on site and made guest appearances.
