The announcement comes after a third round of talks between the parties in the United States.
Yechiel Leiter, Israel's ambassador to the US and chief negotiator, describes the talks as "candid and constructive."
"There will be ups and downs, but the opportunity to achieve success is great," he writes on social media.
Tommy Pigott, spokesperson for the US State Department, writes on X that the next round of political negotiations is expected on June 2-3. In addition, military delegations from Israel and Lebanon are to meet at the Pentagon on May 29.
Pigott writes that the United States hopes the talks will lead to “lasting peace between the two countries, full recognition of each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Hezbollah is not participating
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has criticized Iran-allied Hezbollah in a speech for engaging in “reckless adventures” that serve “foreign interests,” AFP news agency reported. Salam also said the Lebanese military should be the only armed organization in the country.
Israel is currently at war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, but the Shiite militia is not participating in the US-led negotiations.
Hezbollah attacked Israel on March 2, in retaliation for the Israeli and US attack on Iran on February 28, which led to Israel's escalation in Lebanon. One of Israel's main demands is that Hezbollah disarm.
The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which is now being extended, has been in place since April 17, but both sides have accused each other of violating it on an almost daily basis.
New air raids
Israel on Friday carried out new airstrikes against what its military described as Hezbollah-linked targets in southern Lebanon. At least 37 people were injured in Israeli attacks on the southwestern Lebanese city of Tyre, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, AFP reports.
According to the ministry, Haaretz reports that over the past two days at least 55 people have been killed and 164 injured in Lebanon.
According to a statement from the Israeli military, over 220 Hezbollah members have been killed in the past week.
Air raid sirens also sounded in several places in northern Israel on Friday and at least two drones were shot down by Israeli air defenses.
