Patients at the forensic psychiatric clinic in Växjö were filmed having sex or meeting with their lawyers. The clinic's top manager became aware of the surveillance three years ago, Dagens Nyheter reports.

The large-scale suspected illegal surveillance has been going on for several years. Two employees have already been reported to the police, including for illegal wiretapping.

According to DN, operations manager Tina Fogelklou emailed one of the employees - who has now been reported to the police - in the summer of 2022.

She then wrote that it had been discovered "that there were cameras in the visiting rooms that were constantly recording."

Fogelklou has previously denied that she knew about the surveillance, but now states that she was already informed in 2022 that the cameras existed.

However, she says that she did not understand what the cameras were used for, nor that there were hidden microphones.

"But it's true that I emailed about the cameras. I was probably angry as a hornet," she tells DN.

Fogelklou's explanation for why the surveillance may have been going on for seven years is that she had too much trust in the employees who have now been reported to the police.
