Man with prostate cancer missed medication for nine months after home care staff forgot to give it

A man in Laxå did not receive his prostate cancer medication for nine months because staff forgot to give it.

According to the municipality, home health care staff said the workload was too high and medication was forgotten, reports P4 Örebro.

The mistake was discovered only when the man moved from his own home to special housing.

Laxå municipality has now filed a lex Maria report with the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate (Ivo).

The municipality says it has discussed the matter with staff and reviewed its procedures.
