The man was found guilty last fall and had his sentence determined on Wednesday.
Prosecutors had called for life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, while the defense attorney argued for a 27-year sentence.
The 59-year-old defended himself during the trial, but a lawyer was hired during the sentencing process.
The incident occurred on September 15, 2024, during Trump's presidential campaign. A Secret Service bodyguard discovered a rifle muzzle protruding through a fence and aimed at a golf course in Florida where Trump was playing.
The man with the rifle fled when he was discovered and was later arrested. No shots were fired at Trump.
