The patrol was in the apartment building when the man shot at them from an apartment at around 12 o'clock on Tuesday. The police patrol returned fire and eventually arrested the man. No one was injured by the gunfire.
It is still unclear why the patrol was in the stairwell and why the man shot at the police officers.
The man, who is in his 40s, is now suspected of attempted murder or serious unlawful threats.
The fact that we have the alternative classifications is because we don't know whether it is a sharp weapon or not, said police spokesman Daniel Wikdahl.
Two investigations are currently underway.
One investigation concerns the man in the apartment, and the other concerns the use of service weapons.
